Manchester sparkles with Vogue’s annual Fashion Night Out

MANCHESTER is thought to be the new fashion capital after holding Vogue’s annual fashion night out for the first time ever since its launch in 2009.

The city turned into a fashion wonderland, with DJ’s blasting out their mixes enhancing the party vibe. Almost every store contributed to the event, many of which rolled out their red carpets to greet famous designers and fashion icons.

H&M opened its doors to Vogue’s very own style editor Emma Elwick-Bates, who gave styling tips to shoppers. Topshop also got involved and customers received expert fashion advice from Vogue’s creative director Kate Phelan.

Celebrities such as Daisy Lowe and designer friend Henry Holland were spotted in Selfridges watching fellow celebs such as Eliza Doolittle and Jameela Jamil. DJ. Daisy and Jameela both modelled some of this season’s trend, with Daisy sporting a tartan jumper and Jameela rocking a bright orange statement jacket.

Shoppers were spoiled with drinks, goody bags and complimentary food, as well as one off discounts. Around the Arndale, free makeovers and manicures were on offer for anyone wanting to glam up for the fashionable event.

Inside the Arndale a unique Travelator fashion show was held. Brands showcased their A/W collection, with models stunning the crowd by performing a group dance.

G-star attracted a crowd as their new collection was showcased, revealing warm, wooly, winter pieces paired with their signature raw denim. The brand, which is currently modelled by Kasabian’s Serge (Sergio Pizzorno) is thought to be the brand to look out for this season.

Area Manager, Wayne Thomas, who said:  ‘G-star has gone back to its roots where everything is about denim’ he said ‘There’s a diverse mix for everyone.’

A huge tent was set up on Exchange square, which held an intimate catwalk. The event was hosted by famous E4 blogger JSKY and was headlined by upbeat and soulful Manchester born band, Brouhaha.

Manchester based designers exhibited their collections on the catwalk. Alternative trends were brought to the catwalk by each designer. We saw collections range from elegant to grunge and everything in between.

Designer Andrea Zapp, commented on her exclusive autumn winter collection of silk dresses: ‘Each dress tells a story, allowing the wearer to become part of the journey.’

The online store Boohoo stood out from the crowd as they parked their bright pink pop up bus on Cross Street.  Inside makeovers and manicures were being offered as well as an exclusive sneak peak at next season’s statement outfits.

Boohoos marketing product manager, Kelly Bryne, 30, commented on the collection: ‘It’s a real mix of all different influences.’ She said: ‘We have handpicked three of the most relevant collections for the bus; fairy tale grunge, home spun and then the boohoo boutique collection.’

Manchester certainly gave London a run for its money, as its streets were filled with satisfied shoppers who all agreed that Manchester is the place to be. Celebrities such as Daisy Lowe hinted to the MEN their love for the fashionable city, she said: ‘It’s got a really cool feel’.
